Synopsis:

Marco Basile, a regular guy with a lovely wife and a little girl, dreams of turning a piece of land bought by his father years earlier into a nature reserve. One evening, as he is taking his dog for a walk, he witnesses a crime, finds himself face to face with the murderer and narrowly escapes being killed. This is no ordinary murder. It’s an organized crime hit. How much guts does it take to turn in a camorra killer? Marco hears the heartrending appeal by the victim’s daughter and he has no more doubts. He decides to turn the hit man in, and his life will never be the same. From this moment on he becomes part of the “witness program” and he and his wife and daughter have to leave in a bullet-proof car for an unknown destination. He has to forget his hometown, his work, his friends, even his name, and start over. The witness program still hasn’t been perfected. It is beset by snags and setbacks, the staff are not qualified and they wind up making the family’s life a misery, so much so that his civilized action, performed so rightly in the name of justice, becomes a mistake, an “offence”, a tragic act of madness.
