Synopsis:

Padre Pio is the true story of an Italian priest, recently made Saint, who worked endless miracles, which secured him a vast following of people from all walks of life. The series describe his life, which begins when the old priest is a tired, sick man who is being cared for in the Monastery of San Giovanni Rotondo by his “brothers” and loyal followers.
One night he receives a mysterious visitor: an inquisitor from the Vatican who has come to discover the truth about this strange priest whom the people worship like a saint but who rejects all forms of authority, especially that of the Church. Flashbacks of his life including stigmata’s appearance, evil figures who persecute him, mystic visions and the formation of his group of followers are illustrated in this story, which ands with Padre Pio’s death: exhausted by his illness and after celebrating his last Mass, he leaves this world.But not before he has won over, after a nightlong confrontation, the inquisitor, the most determined of his opponents.
This was perhaps his greatest victory.
