Synopsis:

Peter Stride ( Roy Scheider), a CIA agent, is expelled from his squad ATLAS, because of an iniziative which his superiors did not appreciate. As a result, Peter starts working for a very rich baroness, Magda Altman ( Patricia Millardet) , a beautiful woman with a mysterious past and the owner of an industrial plant which produces among other things, sophisticated war weapons.
Peter and Magda encounter an enigmatic International terrorist known as the Caliph, who, responsible for the brutal murder of Magda’s husband years before, kidnaps Peter’s thirteen year old daughter Melissa ( Kelly Marcel).
Peter manages to find his daughter, thanks to his ex-colleagues at ATLAS and begins to make inquiries about this notorious terrorist , drawing the baffling conclusion that the Caliph and Magda are the same person. This is rather devastating discovery for Peter as he has been having a love affair with the baroness. Peter, hurt and upset, decides to play along with Magda, and accepts an invitation to her villa on the Seychelles. While he is there, he notices that somebody is trying to kill him. He immediately presumes that it is Magda and he makes plans to kill her. When alone on Magda’s yacht, the two have a dramatic confrontation which reveals them both to be in the grips of the Caliph. Having rediscovered a mutual trust they abandon the yacht which explodes moments later. They secretly continue to follow in the foot-steps of the Caliph, who believes that they have been killed in the explosion. Thanks to a few trusted friends, Peter finally manages to meet the Caliph in Lebanon. This encounter reveals a bitter truth.
