Synopsis:

Translated into ten different languages, the novel by the Hungarian writer Ferenc Molnàr, Paul Street boys, was first published in 1907.
Written for youngsters and with youngsters as the protagonists, it tells the bitter-sweet story of the struggle between two groups of adolescents in Budapest during the early 1900s, for the conquest of an open space for games which puts an end to building speculation.
The world of the youngsters is contrasted by that of the adults, the youngsters establish independent rules and laws, their own alternative code of ethics; in play, experienced seriously by the youngsters, the “war” manages to lose the violent and dramatic nature it has by contrast in the adult world; it’s Youngsters are “heroes “ of the epic exploits. It is a story dealing with the difficulty of becoming an adult without giving in to compromise. Nemecsek, the young protagonist puts his duty before his health, paying a dear price.
